About Us

Lee Blackman has been practicing law for over 35 years, representing a wide variety of individuals and artists, as well as many diversified businesses and entertainment companies.

Drawing on Lee's knowledge and experience, and the services of our network of specialized co-counsel, the firm handles legal matters in many different areas, some of which are business and entertainment transactions, estate planning, major injury and death cases, family law and entertainment-related suits.


EDUCATION:

Lee attended Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles, where he served as Vice-Justice of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International.  He received a Juris Doctor degree in 1972, and sat for and passed the California Bar Examination the same year. Lee opened own law office in Beverly Hills upon being admitted to practice.

Prior to attending law school, Lee received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge, and attended the Graduate School of Business Administration MBA Program at the University of Southern California.


ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIPS / BAR ADMISSIONS:

Lee is a member of the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles County Bar Associations, and the State Bar of California.  He is admitted to practice law in all of the Courts of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia (pro hac vice) and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.


JUDICIAL / ARBITRATION / MEDIATION EXPERIENCE:

Lee has served as judge pro tem at Los Angeles Superior and Municipal Courts; arbitrator for American Arbitration Association, Los Angeles Superior Court, Santa Monica and Culver Municipal Courts, and Beverly Hills Bar Association; family law mediator for Los Angeles Superior Court; and as Executive Director of United States Arbitration and Mediation of Southern California, Inc.


SPECIAL RECOGNITION:

In addition to numerous letters of commendation from judges, courts and bar associations, Lee has received three Recognition of Experience Certificates from the California Trial Lawyers Association, acknowledging his significant experience as a Trial Lawyer.

Lee is rated "AV Preeminent" (the highest possible Peer Review Rating) by the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. The AV Preeminent rating reflects peer recognition for excellence in both legal ability and ethical practice. 


MEDIA:

Lee has been seen and heard on national television and radio programs. He and his cases have been written about in several different books, major newspapers including The New York Times, London Observer, Chicago Sun-Times and Los Angeles Times (to name but a few), and national magazines from People to Vanity Fair.


CREATIVE WORKS:

Some of Lee's creative work includes "Rescue by Chance", a true story published in Sea Magazine; TripMaster -- The Complete Checklist for Carefree Travel (Champion Publications); the introduction/biography for The Nilsson Anthology songbook (Warner Bros. Publications); and the editing of liner-note booklets for many major label CDs.

He assisted the author, took photographs used in and edited portions of A Clean Breast -- The Life and Loves of Russ Meyer (The Hauck Publishing Company, Inc.).

Glamour photographs taken by Lee have been published in best-selling magazines in Europe and Japan.

Lee is Executive Producer of the critically acclaimed feature-length documentary motion picture, Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?).

HOBBIES:

In addition to his creative activities, Lee enjoys world travel; boating and sailing (he has raced to Mexico in the Newport-to-Ensenada International Yacht Race, and is former runner-up National Champion in Catalina-30 class sloop); photography; riding his Harley; and playing the drums.
